Our History
Rose Brothers Furniture was founded by Travis Rose in 1953 after completion of his service in the U.S. Navy. The original location was a mere 1350 square foot rental building on New Bridge Street in downtown Jacksonville, NC. Where he sold "anything I could get my hands on". He sold new and used furniture and his first line of bedding was from the Sealy© Mattress Co.
In 1956, Travis Rose moved his business to Lejeune Blvd. into an "air conditioned" 10,000 square foot building, which had formerly been a bowling alley.
In 1959, this building burned to the ground, and he moved into a temporary location. By 1961, Mr. Rose purchased a 15,000 square foot building and added 25,000 more square feet as time went by. Over the years, the Company has grown to three retail showrooms with a quarter million square feet of showroom space with furniture and bedding on display. Mr. Rose has taken much pride in being a part of the community and building a large family business with second and third generations now working in the furniture business.
